“2℃: Beyond” 라는 보도로 2020년 퓰리처상 분석 보도상을 수상한 워싱턴 포스트는 기온이 이미 섭씨 2도 이상 상승한 지역들의 삶을 분석하며 극단적 기후변화가 전 지구의 10% 이상 지역에서 발생하고 있고 인류의 위협이 되고 있음을 지적한 바 있다.
그러나, 현생 인류는 성장주의적 발전과 자원소모적 개발에 집착함으로써 오히려 이러한 위험을 가중시키고 있다.
한국기후경제사회연구소는 이에 대한 학술적 견지와 연구에 대한 대중 세미나, 학자들을 위한 컨퍼런스를 개최하고 지식을 공유하는 활동을 지속하고 있습니다.
